Community Facilitator

4 hours per week · In-person, local community venues

Support residents' meetings and workshops, helping groups reach decisions and record actions clearly, working alongside a lead facilitator for your first three sessions.

Board Buddy

Sit alongside a first-time trustee at board meetings for their first six months, offering informal guidance on governance norms and helping them find their voice.

Deliver one-to-one and small-group digital skills sessions to residents, covering essentials such as online banking, job applications and NHS app use.

What we provide in return

Training

Every volunteer completes a half-day induction covering safeguarding, data handling and the specifics of their role before their first unsupervised session.

Supervision

A named staff supervisor checks in fortnightly for your first three months, then monthly, with an open-door policy for anything that needs raising sooner.

Expenses

Travel, materials and reasonable subsistence costs are reimbursed within 10 working days of submitting a receipt, with no cap for standard local travel.

Progression

Volunteers who complete six months in a role are prioritised for paid sessional work, staff vacancies and Practitioner Membership at no cost for their first year.

Process

How to apply

    Express interest

    Submit a short form telling us your availability, location and which roles interest you.

  2. 02

    Informal chat

    A 20-minute call with a volunteer coordinator to talk through the role and answer your questions.

  3. 03

    Checks

    We complete any necessary DBS checks and reference requests for roles involving contact with children or vulnerable adults.

  4. 04

    Induction

    Attend your half-day induction covering safeguarding, data handling and role-specific training.

  5. 05

    First placement

    Start your first supervised session, typically within two weeks of completing induction.
